The Mumby "Generation II" Removable Ball Gooseneck Hitch at Work
Mumby "Generation II" Removable Ball Gooseneck Hitch
An easy-out 2 5/16" ball hitch to pull goose-neck trailers. The original Mumby trailer hitch was designed and manufactured in Canada since 1994. In 2006 the "Mumby Generation II" Removable Ball Gooseneck Hitch was introduced. The "Generation II" gooseneck hitch boostS the following features:
- The Generation II is the only removable ball gooseneck hitch that can be released from the inside of the truck box instead of underneath a wet and muddy fender well.
- The locking pin is spring loaded so it automatically locks when the hitch ball is installed. There is no need to reach under the fender well again to lock the ball in place.
- An 8,600lb tongue weight rating vs 7,500lb rating common among our competitors.
- A 30,000lb towing capacity.
- A removable safety chain, anchor plate, eliminates the need for safety chain attachment devices that required drilling extra holes in the floor of your truck box.
- The shank of the removable ball and the receiver bushing are tapered to provide easy installation and removal of the hitch ball.
- The plastic plug is designed to prevent dirt and debris from entering the open receiver bushing when the ball is not installed.
- The release pin hole is drilled through the shank of the ball and both walls of the receiver bushing to allow easy access to the locking pin.
- A sharp looking carrying case is included with each purchase to store the hitch components in a secure dry place when not in use. NOTE: The hitch ball is not stored upside down in in the receiver bushing when not in use like our competitors where it is exposed to the elements and light fingered thiefs who may be looking for a replacement hitch ball.
Our removable ball simply drops through the removable safety chain attachment plate into a frame-mounted socket base where a spring-loaded pin automatically locks it in place. The automatic locking spring pin eliminates the danger and inconvenience of having to reach under the fender wall to lock the ball in place for towing your trailer.

It's there when you need it, and when you don't, it is easily removed by inserting the release lever (provided) into the release hole in the floor of your truck box and unlocking the spring loaded latch pin. There is no reaching under a muddy, wet or frozen fender wall to try to grab, turn and pull a latch pin lever. Meanwhile, a plastic, flush fitting plug covers the receiver socket and seals off the bottom of the receiver bushing when it's not in use.
